Crystal Matrix, l’ultima installazione, brilla da qualche settimana nel Swaroski Innsbruck Store perché “la purezza e la geometria dei cristalli sono ideali per rappresentare l’estetica della mia arte“. È Erwin Redl, artista austriaco della luce che vive e lavora negli Stati Uniti.

Cristal Matrix è un’installazione di suoni, luci e cristalli posizionata su dischi rotanti: un gioco di magia, 15 cristalli divisi in tre file da cinque si muovono all’uniscono in una danza di suoni e luci che cattura e seduce.

“Da quindici anni esprimo la mia arte realizzando installazioni luminose, lavoro sullo spazio, con la luce, lo esploro e lo indago come se fosse una seconda pelle”.

Lasciato Innsbruck, Erwin è partito per il Canada. Qui, a Toronto, illuminerà le facciate di vetro di tre ponti che collegano le due torri residenziali della città: un gioco di luci e colori che si estende per 270 metri quadrati.

L’artista è affascinato dalla connubio luci e colore: “Mi interessano le sequenze di colori, la possibilità di creare immagini che cambiamo molto lentamente. La luce da sola è astratta, rappresentazione visiva o simbolismo senza emozione“.

Il lavoro di Redl è fortemente attratto dalle nuove tecnologie: “Sono molto influenzato dalla moderna tecnologia di micro computer a LED e robotica. Il mio team di tecnici è costantemente alla ricerca di nuove tecnologie, dalle tradizionali alle più recenti innovazioni nell’illuminazione”.

Crystal Matrix, his latest installation, has been shining at the Swarovski Innsbruck Store for some weeks now because “the purity and geometry of crystals are the ideal way to represent the aesthetics of my art”. This is Erwin Redl, an Austrian-born light artist who now lives and works in the United States.

Cristal Matrix is an installation of sound, light and crystals on rotating discs: a piece of magic, 15 crystals arranged in three rows of five, each moving simultaneously as if they were dancing to attractive and charming music and lights.

“I have been expressing my art for fifteen years through light installations, I work with space, light, I explore and investigate it as if it were a second skin”.

After leaving Innsbruck, Erwin moved to Canada. In Toronto, he developed the lighting system for the glass façade of three bridges that connect the city’s two residential towers: a play of light and colours that shade over a surface of 270 square meters.

The artist is fascinated by the combination of light and colour: “I am interested in colour sequences, the possibility of creating images that change very slowly. Light alone is abstract, a visual representation or an emotionless symbolism“.

Redl’s work is strongly geared towards the use of new technologies: “I am very influenced by LED micro-computer technology and robotics. My team of technicians is constantly searching for new technologies, from the more traditional ones to the latest lighting innovations”.
