Minsk ha recentemente ricevuto un nuovo simbolo architettonico, un moderno edificio destinato ad ospitare la Biblioteca Nazionale della Bielorussia.
I ventitre piani della biblioteca hanno una forma di diamante, a simboleggiare l’enorme valore della conoscienza che l’umanità ha trascritto nei libri.
I ventiquattro lati dell’edificio sono coperti esternamente da pannelli di vetro che, durante il giorno, scintillano come un vero diamante. Minsk recently acquired a new architectural symbol, a modern building that will house the National Library of Belarus.
The twenty-three floors of the library are diamond shaped and symbolize the huge value of knowledge that mankind has recorded in books.
The twenty-four sides of the building are externally covered by glass panels that shine like real diamonds during the day. Architects Victor Kramarenko and Michael Vinogradov wished to preserve and convey this vision at night, hiding the light sources behind the glass panels to create the illusion of a huge colour monitor shining in the dark.
