Light in Jerusalem
International plays of light
Light transforms the city, designs its lines and exalts its architecture. From 6 to 14 June, the old city of Jerusalem hosted the light and colour installations created by the artists of the Jerusalem Festival of Light.

The fourth edition of the Festival presented the magic of light along with technological innovation. The light artists experimented with light as a creative element, not just as an artistic language. Besides Israel’s creative talents, this year has seen the participation of ten international artists. An interesting mix of culture and professionalism and synergies with the Festival of Lights in Lyon and the Frankfurt event, two of the most important light events in the world.

Worthy of notice was the “Cupola – Jaffa Gate” by the design team from Lecce (the only Italian team to take part in the festival), Luminarie De Cagna. A Renaissance-style dome, 25 metres tall and 20 metres wide, illuminated the sky of Jerusalem: coloured LEDs create forms and geometries almost to reproduce famous Italian Renaissance paintings.
