Where to buy Rome Pass for museums and public transport

Roma Pass is one of the most useful card a tourist can buy to visit Rome with a minimum period of 3 days (otherwise it is not convenient at all)

The card is provided by Rome City Council and the Ministry for the Arts and Cultural activities together with ATAC which is the public transport company of Rome. By buying this card – the cost is now (2010) EUR 25,00 – the tourist can access to a circuit of museums and have all the public transport (unlimited number of buses, subway, metropolitan trains as the line Saint Peter – Trastevere – Ostiense) included.

In detail the main things enabled by using this card are the following:

– Free entry to 2 roman museums or archaeological sites as Colosseum, Capitoline Museums, Ara Pacis, Galleria Borghese, Appia Antica, Castel S. Angelo, Planetario

Price Reduction for tickets to all other museums and / or archaeological sites

Rome’s public transport network

Discounts for further exhibitions or events based on cooperations and on period of the year.

It is possible to purchase Rome Pass:

– By calling the Comune di Roma at dedicated Call Centre 0039 060608
– In one of the following PIT (point of Tourist Information):
1-Castel S. Angelo, Lungotevere Vaticano (Piazza Pia). 9.30am – 7.00pm
2-Ciampino, Aeroporto G.B.Pastine – Arrivi Internazionali, area ritiro bagagli. 9.30am – 6.30pm
3-Cinque Lune, Piazza delle Cinque Lune (Piazza Navona). 9.30am – 7.00pm
4-Fiumicino, Aeroporto Leonardo Da Vinci – International Arrival area (Terminal 3).9.00am-6.30pm
5-Minghetti, Via Marco Minghetti (angolo Via del Corso). 9.30am – 7.00pm

– At ATAC – Subway stations What does Rome pass kit include?

  • Rome Pass card itself to be showed in case of any control on public transport, to get discounts or to access the 2 selected museums (For some of them pre-booking is anyway requested as for Galleria Borghese)
  • Rome detailed MAP: A map descrbing all the centre of Rome including Information Points, Public Transport Lines,..
  • Rome Guide: The list of all the museums and sites included in the pass;
  • Rome News: List of Rome events and services for tourists

This basically means the access to Rome Pass is very easy in all the main districts of Rome. Any hotel or holiday apartment in Rome centre has its own PIT at walking distance. Since the first day of vacation it will be possible to buy the card (also directly at the main airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino immediately after landing). Anyway as mentioned if needed it is possible to buy a maximum of 5 cards on-line before leaving to Rome.
