Lo sport incontra l’arte. La creatività farà da cornice ai giochi di Londra dove installazioni e opere d’arte animeranno il Parco Olimpico. Art in the Park è il nome dell’evento che colorerà le prossime Olimpiadi. Unlight art festival open air.

Gli artisti britannici Ackroyd e Harvey firmano “History Trees“: dieci alberi di grandi dimensioni, che raggiungo anche i 18 metri d’altezza, caratterizzano l’opera che sarà installata nel Parco Olimpico. Mentre tre alberi saranno spostati al termine delle gare, gli altri sette rimarranno. Particolarità dell’installazione: un anello da 500 chili sarà ben ancorato alla chioma di ogni albero, con al centro frasi e parole che ricordano e raccontano la storia olimpica. I rami e l’anello s’intrecciano e diventano simbolo “vivente” di Londra 2012.

I designer e artisti britannici Klassnik Corporation, Riitta Ikonen e We Made That, colorano le panchine del Parco Olimpico. Disegni urbani e installazioni trasformeranno il parco in un “Factology Fantastic“, dove ogniart action avrà un significato diverso che workshop locali racconteranno.

All’arte il compito di presentare la storia. La luce e i colori si rifletteranno, invece, nelle acque del fiume Waterworks. Sono le installazioni marine “Steles” che al termine dei Giochi serviranno per segnalare le imbarcazioni. Sono sculture che rievocano il mondo nautico, realizzate con gli stessi materiali con cui vengono progettate le boe di navigazione, durevoli e resistenti.

Sport meets art. Creativity will be the backdrop for the upcoming London Games when installations and artwork will enliven the Olympic Park. Art in the Park is the name of an event organised to animate theupcoming Olympics. Just like an open air light art festival.

British artists Ackroyd and Harvey are the authors of “History Trees“: ten massive trees, reaching up to 18 metres tall, characterise this work installed in the Olympic Park. Three trees will be relocated after the end of the Games, while the remaining seven will be planted in legacy. One key feature of the installation is a ring weighing up to 500 kg that will be firmly placed in the crown of each tree, where phrases and words will tell the history of the Olympics. Tree branches and ring will fuse together, slowly becoming a “living” symbol of London 2012.

British designers and artists Klassnik Corporation, Riitta Ikonen and We Made That, colour the benches of the Olympic Park. Urban design and installations will turn the park into a “Factology Fantastic“, where each art piece will convey a different meaning that will be explained through local workshops. Art will be used to present a story. Light and colours, instead, will be reflected in the Waterworks river. The project is called “Steles” and will be used for boat moorings after the Games are over. These colourful sculptures evoke the nautical world and have been made from the same durable and resistant materials used for navigational buoys.
