Non poteva essere che Milano il luogo più appropriato per dare vita a un nuovo appuntamento fieristico internazionale con l’abitare. Così ha preso forma il nuovo progetto: AbitaMi, il salone-laboratorio che si terrà a partire dal prossimo settembre 2011, con cadenza annuale nell’ambito di Macef-Salone Internazionale della Casa. AbitaMi intende rappresentare il punto di convergenza e d’incontro fra design e decorazione, architettura e interior design.
La manifestazione in quattro padiglioni del quartiere: 9, 11, 13 e 15, seguirà quattro grandi macro-aree: alta decorazione, arredamento contemporaneo, outdoor, eventi di sperimentazione e ricerca. I settori rappresentati: mobili, imbottiti, illuminazione, editoria tessile, tessile e biancheria per la casa, oggettistica e complementi d’arredo, arte della tavola, complementi d’arredo per l’infanzia, outdoor.
Tra gli eventi in programma, all’interno del padiglione 9: “Memories“, una grande mostra sulle tendenze nel settore dei complementi d’arredo, degli editori tessili e biancheria per la casa, a cura di Carlo Ninchi e Vittorio Locatelli.
Il padiglione 11 ospiterà inoltre uno spazio contract dell’ICE, dove l’Istituto nazionale per il Commercio Estero, con una propria installazione, presenterà ai visitatori e alle delegazioni invitate le proprie iniziative promozionali per il settore.
Altra interessante sezione di AbitaMi è Contemporary, dedicata alle gallerie che trattano opere selezionate vintage o di modernariato, alle gallerie di design contemporaneo, al limited edition o a quelle aziende che realizzano opere destinate al mercato del collezionismo.

It is not a surprise that Milan has been selected as the ideal venue for this new international trade event dedicated to living. It is AbitaMi, the showcase-workshop that will take place in September 2011, during the Macef event, the International Home Show. AbitaMi intends to act as the point of meeting and convergence of design and décor, architecture and interior design.
The exhibition will occupy four halls of the Rho trade centre: 9, 11, 13 and 15. Products will be subdivided into four macro-areas: haut décor, contemporary décor, outdoor design, experimentation and research events. The sectors represented are: furniture, upholstery, lighting, textile designers, household textiles and napery, decorative items, tableware, children décor and outdoor design.
The events on schedule at hall 9 are: “Memories“, an important exhibition on the trends in decorative accessories, textile design and household linen by Carlo Ninchi and Vittorio Locatelli.
Hall 11 will host a contract space promoted by ICE, where the National Institute for Foreign Commerce will present, through its own installation, their promotional activities.
Another interesting section of AbitaMi is Contemporary, dedicated to galleries that deal with selected vintage and modern works, contemporary design galleries, limited editions or companies that produce works intended for the collectors’ market.
One of the founding principles of AbitaMi is that of overcoming the conventional idea of an interior design fair, creating a different kind of trade space. The AbitaMi event’s subtitle is Decor & Design Lab, thereby highlighting the importance of experimentation and research. The halls will be sided by a wide range of exhibitions take will take place on nearly 300.000 sqm of exhibition space that will place the spotlight on design creativity and involve several architects, designers and young professionals.
