“Berlin Lights – Eine Hauptstadt im farbigen Lichtermeer “(“Berlin Lights – Una capitale dentro un mare di luci colorate”) è un omaggio alla città di Berlino: ci parli un po’ di questo progetto. “Berlin Lights” racchiude quasi 300 immagini immortalate in una serie di scatti fotografici realizzati nel corso degli ultimi 5 anni. Il “Festival of Light” mi ha fornito l’opportunità di fotografare uno scenario caratterizzato da un’impronta artistica, dove le antiche facciate si stagliavano in una luce inedita per una capitale desiderosa a sua volta di rivelare un nuovo volto. Per fare ciò, ho rinunciato completamente alle operazioni di ritocco delle foto, effettuando invece una rielaborazione delle immagini nel preciso istante in cui venivano scattate. A tale scopo, mi sono avvalso di apposite lenti, filtri e altre particolari tecniche di animazione. Posso dunque affermare che ogni singola foto si è rivelata un esperimento avvincente. Com’è nato l’interesse per la città di Berlino ed il Festival of Lights? Non sono l’unico a subire il fascino di Berlino, giacché chiunque metta piede per la prima volta in questa città, non può fare a meno di rimanerne incantato. Io sono venuto a Berlino nel 1999, e ho deciso di stabilirmi qui. È un luogo in cui ognuno può trovare una propria collocazione, anche perché questa città presenta moltissime sfaccettature. Si tratta dell’ambiente ideale per un artista. Come si riesce, attraverso la fotografia, a fissare le immagini pur continuando a riprodurre le emozioni che vi si celano? Osservo il modo in cui le architetture interagiscono con i rispettivi impianti di illuminazione. Solo in un secondo tempo, decido come impostare lo scatto. A volte si tratta semplicemente di individuare la giusta angolazione per cogliere il tipo di luce in cui è racchiusa l’emozione; in altri casi, modifico la distanza focale nelle fasi di illuminamento per ottenere una dinamica ben precisa. “Berlin Lights – Eine Hauptstadt im farbigen Lichtermeer “(“Berlin Lights – A capital city in a sea of coloured lights “) is a tribute to the city of Berlin: tell us more about this project. “Berlin Lights” contains almost 300 images immortalized in a series of photographic shots carried out over the last 5 years. The “Festival of Light” has provided me with the opportunity of photographing a scenario featuring an artistic imprint, where the ancient façades were silhouetted against an unprecedented light for a capital city wishing, in turn, to reveal a new face. To do this, I completely gave up making retouches to the photos and instead did a reworking of the images in the precise second in which they were shot. For this purpose, I made use of special lenses, filters and other technical animation details. So I can state that each individual photo has proved to be an engrossing experiment. Where did your interest in the city of Berlin and the Festival of Lights stem from?
I am not the only person to fall for the fascination of Berlin, since anyone coming here for the first time can only be enchanted by it. I came to Berlin in 1999 and decided to settle here. It is a place where anyone can find their own spot, also because this city offers a multitude of facets. It is the ideal environment for an artist.
