La Rivincita degli angoli [The Triumph of Corners] is an exhibition presented at the Macro museum (11 June 2011 – 30 October 2011) by Carlo Bernardini, the optic fibres artist. The protagonist is emptiness, fashioned and transformed into space by the precise lines of lights.

For the first time ever, the artist has chosen to work in a special space, one that is narrow, cramped and unusual. He has staged the installation inside the cubage of the lift in the Roman Museum, an area that is almost twenty metres high. And it is precisely this that inspired the title of the show: “The triumph of corners”.

In this space are two lifts, which carry the public up and down to the rooms of the museum. They are positioned one opposite the other and become an actual part of the installation. The people going up and down in the lifts also become an integral part of the artist’s work. “The public can choose to view my installations from the outside, or they can decide to take part in them”.

At the corners of the space, Bernardini has placed two sculptures in stainless steel, from which a structure in optic fibres extends, a luminous design, which redefines the space by means of architecture made of light.

Bernardini has chosen to use two languages, optic fibres and steel, in order to bestow greater physicality on the work; “I wanted to create an installation that could have two visions: the steel allows the work to be seen in the daytime, while the optic fibres redefine the space in the evening and in the dark.”
