Oltre 1 milione di spettatori, più di 70 lighting projects e installazioni luminose, più di 50mila partecipanti agli eventi tematici e dedicati alla luce. Ancora centinaia di migliaia di foto e video in circolazione in rete e oltre 520 milioni di giornalisti e professionisti. Sono i numeri dell’edizione 2010 del Festival of Lights di Berlino, uno degli appuntamenti dedicati alla luce più importanti a livello internazionale.

Il Festival di Berlino è anche tra i festival più storici: quest’anno la città si prepara a ospitare l’edizione numero 7. Il Countdown è iniziato, c’è molta attesa per l’apertura ufficiale che avverrà mercoledì 12 ottobre. Alle 19.30, “LightsOn”: le luci accenderanno Potsdamer Platz. La piazza, simbolo della città di Berlino, è l’headquarter della Festival e qui, davanti alla Torre Kollhoff, è in programma la cerimonia inaugurale che darà il via alla manifestazione.
Dal 12 al 23 ottobre giochi di luce firmati dai lighting designer, installazioni on air realizzate dagli artisti ma anche proiezioni su tutti i principali monumenti architettonici. Al calar del sole, migliaia di luci illumineranno la Porta di Brandeburgo, l’imponente Berliner Dom, il Duomo di Berlino, e altri suggestivi angoli della città.

And then there are the hundreds of thousands of photos and videos across the Internet and more than 520 million journalists and professionals. These are the numbers of the 2010 edition of the Festival of Lights in Berlin, one of the most important international appointments dedicated to the lighting world.

The Festival of Berlin is also one of the city’s most historic festivals: this year Berlin is getting ready to host the seventh edition. The countdown has started and it has created great expectations around the official opening that will take place on Wednesday 12 October. First, there will be the event “LightsOn” at 7.30 pm: lights will illuminate Potsdamer Platz. The famous square, the symbol of the city of Berlin itself, will be the festival’s main venue and here, right in front of Kollhoff tower, will be the opening ceremony that will officially launch the event.

From 12 to 23 October plays of light signed by leading lighting designers, on-air installations created by artists but also videos projected on the surfaces of all the city’s main architectural monuments. At sunset, thousands of lights will light up Brandenburg Gate, the imposing Berliner Dom, the Dome of Berlin, and others atmospheric city spots.
