Per la seconda volta Torino è pronta ad accogliere designer nazionali e internazionali, affermati studi e giovani progettisti per l’edizione 2011 di Operae, la mostra mercato interamente dedicata al design autoprodotto. Da venerdì 4 novembre a domenica 6 novembre, il centro della città diventa la suggestiva sede di un vero e proprio marketplace diffuso in cui esporre prodotti appartenenti alle diverse categorie merceologiche.

In vista dell’appuntamento, sono state aperte le iscrizioni che consentono di partecipare e di avere quindi a disposizione uno spazio espositivo, nonché la possibilità di incontrare pubblico, distributori e giornalisti. La domanda di ammissione reperibile on line sul sito www.operae.biz.

Forte dell’ottimo riscontro ottenuto nel corso della prima edizione e di un crescente dibattito attorno ai fenomeni di autoproduzione, Operae torna a proporre al pubblico lo stato dell’arte di questa “Energia creativa non organizzata” come la definisce Alessandro Mendini. Un genere del design in cui il progetto di mobili e oggetti si arricchisce di valenze come la ricerca visiva, la sperimentazione dei materiali e l’uso di tecniche di produzione artigianali antiche o totalmente innovative.

For the second time in a row, Turin is ready to welcome national and international designers, well-known design firms and young professionals for the 2011 edition of Operae, the exhibition entirely dedicated to self-made design. From Friday, 4 November to Sunday, 6 November, the city centre will turn into an amazing showcase of products from all sectors.

In the meantime, participants are invited to submit their applications and have the opportunity to display their crafts and meet the public, distributors and journalists. Application forms can be downloaded at www.operae.biz.

Thanks to the success of the first edition and a growing debate around self-made products, Operae will once again show the current situation of this “unorganised creative energy” according to the definition by Alessandro Mendini. This is a design branch where projects involving furniture and fittings are further enriched with visual research, experimentation on new materials and the use of both traditional artisanal or innovative manufacturing techniques.

Operae is addressed to design professionals, craftsmen and small enterprises. Professionals who have turned their firms into workshops or who collaborate with local artisans; they are self-made entrepreneurs or professionals who decide to invest in new market niches. All these people share the same attention to the product, which is made by following the entire production cycle, where the major strength lies in on-going research and small batch production.
