ECOWEEK, un’organizzazione greca attiva in Europa e nel Medio Oriente che riunisce architetti, designer, paesaggisti ed ingegneri di tutto il mondo, sta preparando la sua prima conferenza e workshop Internazionale sull’architettura sostenibile e comunità urbane, che avrà luogo in Italia, a Milano, tra il 12-18 Settembre 2011.
“‘Urban Comminities and ‘Green’ Architecture'” è il titolo dell’evento che si articola in quattro temi principali: sostenibilità urbana, sostenibilità sociale, sostenibilità dei nuovi edifici e sostenibilità degli edifici esistenti.
“Il nostro scopo è quello di promuovere i principi dell’architettura sostenibile e migliorare le prestazioni energetiche degli edifici, che consumano oltre il 40% dell’energia totale prodotta. La progettazione sostenibile, basata sui principi di guadagno solare passivo, la scelta di materiali ecologici e il coinvolgimento attivo della comunità, può comportare una notevole riduzione della nostra dipendenza da fonti di energia non rinnovabili e diminuire in questo modo l’emissione di CO2 nell’atmosfera” commenta l’architetto Elias Messinas, fondatore e presidente di ECOWEEK.
Negli ultimi quattro anni ECOWEEK ha coinvolto su scala internazionale giovani, studenti, professionisti affermati ed esperti; ha organizzato conferenze e workshop in Grecia, Cipro e Israele. Dopo Milano, toccherà a Germania, Polonia e Romania.

ECOWEEK, a Greek organisation operating in Europe and in the Middle East that brings together architects, designers, and engineers from all over the world, is preparing its first international conference and workshop on sustainable architecture and urban communities, which will be held in Italy, in Milan, from the September 12 to 18, 2011.
“‘Urban Communities and ‘Green’ Architecture'” is the title of the event that will deal with four main topics: urban sustainability, social sustainability, sustainability of new buildings and sustainability of existing building.
“Our goal is to promote the main principle of sustainable architecture and improve the energy performance of buildings, which currently consume over 40% of the total energy produced. Sustainable design, based on the principles of passive solar gain, ecological materials and the active involvement of communities can lead to a remarkable reduction of our dependence on non-renewable sources and thus diminish the emissions of CO2 in the atmosphere” says the architect Elias Messinas, founder and president of ECOWEEK.
In the last four years ECOWEEK involved, at the international level, young people, students, well-known professionals and experts; it organised conferences and workshops in Greece, Cyprus and Israel. After Milan, the summit will move to Germany, Poland and Romania.
