Nero, elegante, luminoso, dalle linee spigolose e dai tratti decisi. Potrebbero essere le caratteristiche di un diamante o di un gioiello raro e prezioso. Invece è la descrizione del Carbon, il bar del lussuoso Park Hotel di Hyderabad, India.

Il richiamo al lusso e alle pietre, però, ha un significato. Ogni ala dell’albergo è stata arredata da diversi designer e architetti locali a cui è stato chiesto di ispirarsi agli antichi e preziosi gioielli prodotti nella zona e appartenuti alla collezione del Nizam, il Governatore dello Stato indiano di Hyderabad.

Lo studio Khosla Associates di Bangalore, una città del sud dell’India, ha progettato l’interior e il lighting design del Carbon.

Il concept si ispira alle sfaccettature del diamante: le forme delle sedute e dei divani scelti per l’arredo seguono le linee delle pareti e del soffitto. I colori sono scuri: le tonalità del rame si accompagnano ai toni del bronzo e del marrone. I tessuti morbidi creano un piacevole contrasto con le linee e i profili decisi e insieme spigolosi.

Black, elegant, shiny, with sharp edges and sweeping lines. A description that could well fit a diamond or a rare and precious jewel. It refers, instead, to the Carbon, the bar of the luxurious Park Hotel in Hyderabad, India.

The reference to luxury and precious gemstones, however, is not at all fortuitous. Each wing of the hotel was furnished by different local designers and architects who were asked to draw inspiration from the locally produced ancient and precious jewels, which once belonged to the private collection of Nizam, the Governor of the Indian state of Hyderabad.

Khosla Associates in Bangalore, in southern India, is responsible for the Carbon’s interiors and lighting design.

The concept takes inspiration from the facets of a diamond: the shape of the seats and sofas chosen for the furniture follow the lines on the walls and ceiling. Colours are dark: shades of copper accompany the nuances of bronze and brown. Soft fabrics create a pleasant contrast with the sweeping lines and sharp edges.

The project’s unique feature is seen in the geometries that reproduce mainly prisms and triangles that are projected on the wall surfaces and illumined by coloured LED lights. The atmosphere is young and modern, while the space is vibrant and dynamic. In a place where dark prevails, these lighting details illuminate the entire room highlighting style elements.
